What we do

Foundation PAZ-Holandesa has been since 2000 active in Peru and has aimed at the treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration of children (without economic sources) with a handicap. PAZ-Holandesa started its activities with organising operation projects in Cusco, Lima and Arequipa. A child policlinic was opened in 2001, in Arequipa (the second city of Peru) to be able offer a complete treatment and rehabilitation this way. Is treated annually more than 7,000 patients in the policlinic. Because PAZ-Holandesa offer continuity by its continuing presence there patients also many come from other provinces such as Moquega, Ica, Cusco, Puno, Madre the Dios and Ayacucho.In this moment there work 18 professionals in the policlinic.

Below an overview of the performed activities of PAZ-Holandesa follow so far:

  • Operation projects in Arequipa, Lima and Cuzco. The most important focus lies open at cleftplates operations, burn wound operations, hydrocefalie (water head) operations and spina bifida)operations.
  • Coordinate and offering after care projects (such as speech lessons, mental treatment and or physiotherapy)
  • Give of medical trainings to room staff (such as echo demonstrations, training to nurses, operation techniques);
  • And donation of (medical) material, toy and food for local hospitals and orphanages collect; *
  • Set up and use of PAZ-Holandesa the child policlinic;
  • Set up and in use of a traveller clinic in Arequipa;
  • Cooperation with Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, Goyeneche hospital in Arequipa, the Ministry of Health c of Peru, IF (International Federation of Hydrocephalus and Spina bifida), Caritas Peru, RBC Peru, Liliane fund, the Netherlands and Peru, Solaris, Peru, San Juan the Dios hospital in Arequipa, medical college of Arequipa, foundation Paz-Peru, regional hospital of Cuzco, regional hospital of Tacna, neurosurgical institute of Lima;
  • Renovation and modernisation of neonatology department, operation rooms and recovery of the Goyeneche hospital in Arequipa (2002);
  • Organisation medical symposia;
  • Set up of patient associations.
