10 oktober was de Internationale Dag van de Mentale Gezondheid. Zaterdag 14 oktober organiseerden wij een “markt van emoties” voor de kinderen in onze sociale projecten. De psychologen hadden stands ingericht van diverse emoties, er waren allerlei activiteiten met de kinderen.
Julieta, een 6-jarig meisje met spina bifida, bij ons te verwelkomen in het Spina Bifida Project! Julieta is uit Pullo, Peru, en ze is al eerder geopereerd aan haar spina bifida en hydrocephalus (waterhoofd). Ze is echter nooit onder controle geweest bij een uroloog voor haar urine-incontinentie. We zijn verheugd om Julieta de zorg te kunnen geven die ze nodig heeft, zo zal haar moeder getraind worden om haar te catheriseren, zodat zij droog naar school kan gaan.
The World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Day’s third edition kicks- off with the theme “Access to Healthcare for all”. It reminds the public and policy makers that Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus are a reality and increases awareness to improve the lives of people living with these conditions while celebrating many achievements made by our enthusiastic worldwide community.
Persons with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and their parents need healthcare and social services to coordinate and cooperate with each other, in order to deliver appropriate, timely, adequate and efficient treatment and support. Services provided at an affordable and accessible multidisciplinary clinic are the best way to treat, support, and follow up a person with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus.
Health is a fundamental human right indispensable for the exercise of other human rights. The highest attainable standard of health is conducive to living an active life in dignity.
There are many social determinants of health, such as general socioeconomic, cultural and environmental conditions, living and working conditions, social and community influences, individual lifestyle factors, and age, gender and hereditary factors. The realization of the right to health therefore requires a multidisciplinary approach, from childhood into adulthood, and access to affordable, adequate, and appropriate services is imperative.

On Monday February 10th the first campaign starts this year with urology team Dr.Herman Bakker and Dr.Liem Lie, pediatric urologists. For two weeks they will not only treat patients with spina bifida, but also children with congenital urological abnormalities. El lunes 10 de febrero inicia el primer campana de urología de este año con el equipo de Dr.Herman Bakker y Dr.Liem Lie, urólogos pediatras. Durante dos semanas van a tratar no sólo los pacientes con espina bífida, sino también a los niños con anomalías congénitas urológicas. Se llevará a cabo las horas de atenciones, realizar operaciones y dar talleres de capacitación.Op maandag 10 februari begint dit jaar met urologie team Dr.Herman Bakker en Dr.Liem Lie, kinderurologen. Twee weken lang zullen zij kinderen met aangeboren urologische afwijkingen behandelen.
